A Piacere

a Piacere:

At the performer’s pleasure,

Ad libitum,

The music flows through her,

Fiery and filled with passion,

Sensual and mysterious,

But there is that inevitable moment

When she must decide where it will lead,

Where her instinct will take the phrase,

Each nuance, each gesture,

Emanating from years and years of preparation,

Of life,

All for this moment,

This painting of sound on a canvas of silence.

In music and in life,

She decides, she chooses,

Following her heart,

Her rules to make or break,

She shapes her world,

One note, one gesture, one decision at a time,

Ad libitum,

A piacere.

At her pleasure.
