Last night one of my graduate students played his Master’s recital at UAB. He is a band director, and the audience was filled with his adoring students and his loving family. Such a great energy in the hall. As part of the program three more of my students and I joined Bryan in a clarinet quintet. As I sat backstage watching my students warm up, my heart tugged…how lucky I have been to get to work with so many great young people over my career. I have no doubt this group will go out and do beautiful things in the world…in fact, they already are. We are in good hands.
