On Things that Go Bump In the Night

‘Twas All Hallow’s Eve

and I had to believe

That the sound I just heard

was nothing absurd.

“Floor boards creaking,”

I mused,

though I felt quite confused,

as the creaking turned into a

BUMP!

My heart started pounding,

like it had to be bounding

Right out of my chest—

And perhaps it knew best.

“Something’s here!”

choked with fear,

I said, feeling queer,

and it sounds like it’s so very near.

Under covers I huddled,

my mind all befuddled,

My teeth started chattering

as the door began clattering.

“The thing’s in my room!”

I moaned into the gloom;

I just knew I was dead…

then Shiva jumped onto the bed.
