Life bowed deeply and reached out his hand,
Fingers long and elegant
Against the changing fall light.
“A dance, my dear?
A waltz? A tango?
It’s your choice.
Times passes so quickly-
Won’t you join in the dance?”
I shyly put my hand in his,
Finally gathering my courage,
Stepping out onto the stage,
The leaves swirling down around us like stars.
For so many years,
I played the wallflower;
Careful, safe, monochromatic.
But no longer.
The music began to play,
And I twirled with wild abandon,
Around and around,
Embracing Life with arms open wide,
As the colors became vivid and my heart opened
Giddy with freedom,
Knowing I will never sit out another dance again.
I have sat out many a dance in my life. I, too, am learning to say yes more.
Good for you, JoAnne. ❤️
