I gaze out at the nighttime sky,
the city lights peppering the darkness like fireflies,
feeling insignificant at the grandeur of it all.
When will I become what I was meant to be?
When will I make my mark on the vastness of the world?
When will I matter?
It feels that time is running out on becoming.
I allow fear of failure… or fear of success?
to cloud my vision,
to cripple me.
As the sun rises and darkness becomes light,
Letting go of fear, given permission to be my honest self,
I see what I have missed all along;
in my path to becoming,
I have already become.
