The View from Here

We are living through such strange times,

chaotic and unsettling.

Up is down, down is up.

The moments consume us until we think we will never arrive at the other side.

Everything seems larger than life while we are living it,

but with hindsight we realize that all of those moments are only pieces of our life’s puzzle,

just another bead on the necklace of time.

A part of the whole,

each bead making way for the one that will follow on our path,

not necessarily defining us.

We look back and gently touch each bead,

memories laden with nostalgia, maybe regret,

remembering the lessons learned

and holding onto the love that remains.
